What it does inside the pump
A liquid ring pump discharges gas and seal liquid together. The separator is the vessel on the discharge that lets that mixture slow down so the liquid drops out and the gas leaves dry — and on a partial-recirculation system it is also the reservoir that feeds seal liquid back to the pump. It is fitted on 2BE1, 2BE3/2BE4 and similar frames.
How it fails, and what you see first
Separators fail by corrosion of the shell and by internal fouling. A fouled separator carries liquid over into the discharge line, and the first sign is water in the downstream piping or at the silencer. Internal baffles and demister pads corrode away quietly, so a separator can look sound from outside and no longer separate anything. Level-control problems here also starve the pump of seal liquid, which then shows up as poor vacuum on a machine whose pump end is perfectly good.

Model and serial of the pump, plus the separator's own tag or drawing number if it has one. Give the shell diameter and height, connection sizes and orientation, and say whether it has a demister pad, a float level control, or a sight glass. State the material you need.
