What it does inside the pump

A gasket set is every static joint in one machine, supplied together: casing-to-head joints, port plate or cone joints, bearing cover gaskets, and the separator and piping joints where those are part of the frame. It is bought per overhaul, not per failure.

How it fails, and what you see first

Gaskets are not a diagnostic item — they are replaced whenever the machine is opened, because a compressed gasket that is reused will weep. A machine that has been opened and closed on old gaskets typically shows a slow loss of ultimate vacuum from air drawn in at the joints, and it is very hard to find by ear because the leak is inward.

What to send us so the part is right

Model and serial. If the machine has been modified or the separator has been changed, say so — the set contents vary between frames of the same model. All our sets are asbestos-free; state if you need graphite or PTFE-faced material for temperature or chemical reasons.
