What it does inside the pump

The bearings carry the radial load from the liquid ring, which is not symmetric — the ring is thick on one side and thin on the other, so the shaft sees a steady side load all the way round every revolution. That is why liquid ring pump bearings run harder than the shaft power alone would suggest.

How it fails, and what you see first

Almost every bearing failure on these machines starts as a seal or packing failure: seal liquid gets past, washes the grease out and rusts the raceways. The progression is water ingress, grease emulsification, then spalling. A bearing that failed clean, with no water, usually means misalignment at the coupling instead. Bearing sizes on liquid ring pumps are standard, so you can cross-check any number we quote against an SKF or NSK catalogue before you order.

What to send us so the part is right

Model, serial, and the number stamped on the bearing you removed — that is normally enough. If the bearing is unreadable, give shaft diameter, housing bore and width. Tell us if the machine runs above 40 °C ambient or vertically, because that changes the clearance class and the grease.
